Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who provide leadership and support strategic direction in the human resources activities of an organisation. Their knowledge base may be highly specialised or broad within the human resources field. The job roles that relate to this qualification may include Human Resources Manager and Senior Human Resources Business Partner. 

Responsibilities are likely to be determined at a workplace level. Some smaller organisations may require employees to work across all aspects of human resources. In larger organisations, individuals may manage a single human resources function. 

This course is designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge to:  

• Apply critical thinking for complex problem solving; 
• Manage organisational finances; 
• Contribute to organisational performance development; 
• Contribute to the development of employee and industrial relations strategies; 
• Contribute to strategic workforce planning; 
• Lead and manage organisational change; 
• Provide leadership across the organisation;  
• Manage innovation and continuous improvement;  
• Develop and implement business plans; and 
• Lead and manage effective workplace relationships. 

Course Duration

• 78 weeks (including term breaks)
• 6 terms (10 weeks per term)

This course consists of 10 units of competency (6 core and 4 electives) delivered across a period of 78 weeks (including 18 weeks of term breaks). Students will complete 1,200 hours of structured learning (20 hours per week) and are expected to complete 600 hours of unsupervised study and assessment preparation (10 hours per week). The 60 weeks of learning are split into 6 terms of 10 weeks each, with each term covering 1-2 units of competency.

Course Entry Requirements

Newbay Tutoring requires prospective domestic* and overseas** students to satisfy the following entry requirements.

• Students must be at least 18 years of age at course commencement; AND
• Students must have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent; AND
• Students must hold an IELTS 5.5 or higher with no skills band less than 5 or equivalent, if they have not completed high school and/or tertiary education in Australia or in the English language. 
• It is recommended that all students be proficient in the use of computer- based technology;
• It is recommended that all students have the appropriate level of learning, reading, writing, language, oral communication, and numeracy skills. 

Additionally, when enrolling students, Newbay Tutoring staff must adhere to the Newbay Tutoring Admission and Enrolment Policy and Procedure. 

Assessments

This course will be delivered and assessed through verbal assessment, group discussion, consultation, prescribed textbook reading and online written assessment activities.

Course Outcomes

Students will attain the Advanced Diploma of Human Resources Management once all units have been completed at a competent level.

Graduates of our Advanced Diploma of Human Resources Management course will gain critical skills and knowledge to be able to provide leadership and support the strategic direction in the human resources activities of an organisation. These could include:
